I made the mistake of purchasing this for a small portable generator because it was advertised with it. This is a well-made panel in a metal case – it is heavy and not flexible. 17 lbs doesn’t seem like it would be that much – but because of the size – it seems even heavier. I returned it because I needed something I could manage to move around. I’m certain that – for the right situation – this is a great product.

I did a test. I’m outfitting my cabin, and which to get? So, I ordered two panels to start my test. One Renogy 100w, and another similar amazon sourced brand that was cheaper. Here are my results.
0) shipping speed: Order placed Thur jun 7th in the evening. Package on porch Sat Jun 9th. Oh, ya. That is prime. The other brand: placed Sat jun 9th, arrived Thursday jun 13th. Ok, there was a Sunday in there…but takes 3 week days and a weekend to deliver?
1) Packaging: HANDS DOWN, the Renogy was better packed. Double boxed. Also, the inner box was a denser protective box packed with 1/2 closed cell foam. The other brand was just a single box. BOTH arrived with shipping scars. I had to verify the other brand panel to ensure it wasn’t damaged in shipping. Renogy wins big here.
2) power output. The two 100 watt panels in direct sun light. The amps/volts were very similar. 5.6-5.7amps @17.3-17.6 volts…I’ll call that ~100Watts. Both panels are as advertised.
3) Aluminum: The renogy frame was simply more aluminum. 1/3 more height and more sturdy.
4) construction: The renogy brand had mitered corners. The fit and finish were good. The other brand had plastic corners. The renology was stiffer. Important if you are mounting to a roof during a wind storm one would think.
So…End result: I need 6 more panels. I’ll be buying the Renogy.
I will follow up in 6 months with more stats and results.

I ordered this panel to charge my Expert Power solar generator. Although a little heavy and awkward to put in the yard, it was easy to attach the cords on the back of the panel to the cords provided with my generator. The first day was cloudy and I kept moving it to find the right location. It only half charged my unit. The next morning was clear, so I repositioned it at a 45 degree angle to the morning sun and my unit was fully charged by noon. Now I have a power source for Wi-Fi and cpaps when storms come.

I have now bought 4 of these panels and the last 2 have not lived up to the standard. As you can see in the picture, they are all getting the same sunlight and should produce the correct voltage and current. How ever, the 2 on the left as I point to in the picture are producing 10% less and seems to be dragging the system down. I tried calling renogy to no avail only voicemail, so now I have to wait for slow email. I left a message about a week ago and I still have not received any response up to now, I don’t believe they are that busy not to call back π€. The description says 100watt but that is not true either, even with 2 panels I only am getting 172watts. They are wired 2 series then parallel. Which should have given double production.
They seem well built but only time will tell and make sure to register them, in order to get the warranty.
My problem is with customer service right now not responding. Can’t recommend until they do respond, as if you buy one and it’s bad. You won’t get them over the phone. That’s better than email.
Update 7/17/19:
Still to date have NOT received any response from customer service, buyers be aware of these kind of business who gives phone number but”never” answer it. Email is also a joke, so I contacted Amazon who did a complete refund. Thumbs up for your great customer service πππ Amazon. Lowsey renogy, buyers should go elsewhere until they Learn to respond to customers π‘. Over a month now and no response… Do not buy anything from renogy….

I used this panel during a 3-week road trip and it kept charging my RV battery even in low sun angle conditions. I used an MPPT charge controller with it.
4 stars because of an out-of-spec MC4 connector. The male plug has two barbed blades that click into the female connector to hold the two together until you want to release them. This one plugged into its own fine but only with difficulty in two other brands. Caliper showed that the Renogy one is about 0.5mm wider than my other brands. I shaved them with a Dremel sanding wheel and now it clicks and unclicks with my other connectors just fine.

Easy to install. Simple connectors lessen the chance for errors. Hooked this panel up to another panel in series to get a 24V system going instead of 12V. Much better now with two panels.

I am very impressed with these solar panels. Even in low light conditions (partial shade at 7:00 in the morning) they are producing enough power to trickle charge my battery. My new Renogy solar system may not be particularly practical given the constraints of apartment living, but we’ll see who’s laughing when the End of Days is upon us and I’m the only one of my neighbors with the ability to microwave a burrito!

Nicely done! I will use it with my West Mountain EPIC PowerGate controller and Bioenno 20AH LiPo battery for emcomm. This has regular solar panel connectors, so I bought an 8 foot Solar to PowerPole extension converter, giving me almost 11 feet to the EPIC – If I need more, I will convert an 10AWG extension cord to PowerPoles at both ends. Easy. I could have cut the solar connectors off the panel and installed PP’s, but didn’t want warranty probs.
Renology makes “legs” for this but they’re $40 and bolting / unbolting ’em to the panel would be PITA, so I think I’ll make something I can snap on and off easily, and stow in the box with panel and cables. If it turns out spiffy, I may update this with a picture or two.

So far a great solar panel for the top of my delica van.

Seems to be a very good panel, Iβm not experienced in solar panels. Compared to Coleman itβs way lighter and gives a better output.

I am only able to get 13 watts of power from this under optimal conditions, using a Renogy 40 amp rover controller, as well as a jackery power station. Either both controllers are defective, or the solar panel is defective. When I say optimal conditions, I mean not a cloud in the sky, high noon, with panel pointed directly at sun. Not good.
