Had installed by licensed electrcian 3 months ago. Everything worked great until now. Flood Lights started flashing like strobe. Did internet research and checked Ring web-site for all possible causes and nothing listed appeared to be the issue. Unit is mounted under the eve of roof. Got out ladder to check the unit and found the LED light housings were full of water which caused the LED panel inside to short. Unmounted the light and found that Ring uses a soft neo-preme / rubber conical type washer to try to block water from getting into the LED lens area. This “washer” has a hole in the middle for the wires and this allows water to get in. This hole should be a solid seal to prevent water getting in. A few cents worth of a poured non-conductive hardening compound could have prevented this defect.

After my basic floodlight went out, we decided to replace with the Ring floodlight. Install was easy as long as you know simple electrical work. Black, white and ground just like any outlet. Ring doesn’t recommend that you have this floodlight hanging with the guts (wires and base) upright. They only recommend you install the floodlight on your siding. With that said, I installed it under my overhang due to that being the only logically location. Every floodlight we’ve owned has been installed in the same spot. Been that way since the house was built. I used an outdoor junction box then sealed the holes after I pulled the wire through. We have a joist that runs through the location of the wires. Do not install this directly on the soffit without a joist/wood to hold your junction box. You’re asking for failure if you do.
After you install the junction box, Ring includes a handy hook to hang the floodlight while you’re wiring it.
The floodlight sits high and captures areas that my Ring doorbell can’t. We have had this for approximately a year and it still performs as if it was new. No issues with the LEDs like some report.

Easy to install in where previous floodlights were. Comes with the Chime Pro (WiFi Booster) Virtually installs itself. Wired up and wow what a large area of coverage. So far so good. Just installed last night and I already know I have a pair of raccoons and an armadillo that visit nightly.

This is the 2nd RING Floodlight cam that I have installed. The first one after one year failed with its LED lights going bad and blinking continuously when they were triggered on. RING replaced it with this new one I have installed since Jan 2020.
Lately I noticed that my videos would shake a little whenever the front door was opened and then closed. Upon investigating, I noticed that the round plastic tightening nut that secures the camera had cracked loose and came off! So the camera unit is now loose and can be easily swiveled out of position. I searched for a replacement nut but could not find anywhere that has such a part that would fit. So I wonder if RING support can send me that round plastic nut that screws on the back of the camera mounting? RING support site is down and says no one at support during this COVID19 pandemic. So what to do? The camera system itself I give high ratings but now I see it has cheap unreliable plastic parts that can crack off in time (aside from the known failing LED lights plaguing these units). I hope someone from RING support can send me a replacement nut. I am able to disassemble the unit to replace the nut myself, so would prefer to send me a simple nut instead of replacing the whole unit. See photos attached.

Worth the money. The lights are high efficiency LED. The camera is the same quality that you expect from ring. I like having a sense of security knowing that our backyard is secured by this product.

The camera function and motion detecting / image and video capture works great. The only feature that I am not satisfied with is the motion that activates the actual flood light. It’s very slow. I’ve tried adjusting the device’s motion settings but it still does not activate in time. The particular unit is the second that I own and is installed on a patio. The other one I have is installed on my driveway. That one works flawlessly and deserves a 5-star review. Not sure why this one works differently. Also, this one has a yellowish light compared to my driveway unit that has a white light. I prefer the white light but the yellow doesn’t affect the great picture and video quality. I may exchange it for another if I can overcome the laziness and get up on a ladder to remove it.
