We have a somewhat long driveway, with no windows facing the side that visitors pull up on. I was hoping this would work to alert us when someone pulls in before they’re knocking on my door:-). We put one of the sensors out under the mailbox, and so far it’s been working well, even sensing people walking in sometimes. I still have one sensor to place, but am waiting to see if we actually need a second one, or if I should just keep it as a spare. I’m not sure how it will hold up to all kinds of weather…it’s somewhat protected, but could still get wet – I should know after the a storm blows through this weekend. Overall I’m quite happy with it!

I’ve only had this for 3 days, but so far so good. Installed the sensor at the top of the stairs and plugged in the door bell part downstairs. Now I know when my mom is going to “pop in” downstairs. I was so tired of being scared with her showing up in a doorway unannounced. I did put tape over the sensor except for one sliver in the center. I got this idea from another reviewer. I didn’t want it going off when the cats went up and down the stairs. Happy Day!

I wasn’t sure this was going to be effective, so I this is a trial… I installed the first of 2 sensors beside the house. While I was handling it, I could hear the alarm sounding inside (I had it on loud). Once I finished, it stopped. Later, I tested it by walking outside in that direction – it sounded! Next I put the second one on the other side of the house across the driveway (fairly close to an iron gate. Later, I heard the alarm (but I didn’t know which sensor alarmed) . I went out to investigate and my dog was at the gate! It had detected him! I moved it away from the gate (but still in the path to the gate and no alerts since. I’ll follow up after some time to see if I’m still pleased. I took away a star because I had no way of knowing which one was triggered (I changed the “sound”, but it changes both of them. It seems like you need cameras as well – but it detects motion well.

Update: I’ve had this a few weeks and I’ve changed the alarm sound, but it changes both sensors, so I still can’t tell which side of the house needs to be checked without looking at the cameras… So, Anyway, one of them alerted me to an Opossum on the top of the fence (I was relieved it wasn’t a person climbing over the fence), and the one on the other side of the house alerted me when there were some neighbors walking up to the side gate (I guess to see my dogs). I’ve had some false alarms, and I have figured out that it is picking up the moving shadows of my trees in the wind. When this happens, I see the moving shadow now and know that’s what caused it. I could move it out of the range of the tree’s shadow, but it’s really where I want it. Otherwise, each alarm has actually been “something” in it’s path. The most important, was when my dogs started barking and I let them out (in the middle of the night) and they went straight to the gate. I called 911, because my dogs were so serious (not a playful, “hello” bark). While I was on the phone with 911 (and the police enroute, my sensor alarmed! I told the 911 operator that someone was in my driveway since I could see the other side of the house with my camera. There sure was! The police knew exactly where to go because the would-be thief was “caught” by the sensor alarm. Four starts instead of 5, since I cant tell from the sound which side of the house to check (I have to view the cameras.

I ordered this motion sensor alarm for my home as we are currently renting a larger home and there are times when we don’t hear the doorbell. My neighbor had one of these sensors and I thought I would give it a try. First I have to say how EASY this is to set up. Literally took me 10 minutes to place the sensor and then turn it on. Also, I love that I didn’t have to permsntky mount it amywear as with renting a home I didn’t want to have to drill holes into the walls etc.
Now… I have to also say it works amazing! I can take the monitor with me and always be alerted to anyone at or near my door! I think it will also come in handy for when I have packages delivered as sometimes the mail person doesn’t ring the doorbell they just leave the package and with this alarm I will be notified.
Great alarm especially for the price!

This is awesome. We have a long driveway and live back in the woods. I like to know when someone is coming before they get to the door. We have the one for the driveway. It alerts for all the vehicles that come up the driveway. We also put one in our detached garage, we do need to turn it off on weekends as it would go off all day long from my husband. Other than then, we even make sure it is turned back on at night on the weekends. We have it set that if someone opens the regular door or either of the garage doors it gets triggered. It is literally a plug and play setup. Put the batteries in the sensors and plugged in the chime. Its nice to have a variety of chimes than just one and you can make is louder if you need. We are very pleased with this purchase

I was ready to return the WJLING motion detectors because I was using it at home in a hallway (with nothing to trigger the alarm other than legit motion) and I was getting alarms every few minutes. I switched to batteries (instead of usb/outlet) and it stopped the false alarms. But, I had planned to use the system with usb/outlet power. I then tried a remote control outlet switch (ex. etekcity product) between the usb adapter and the wall outlet; it worked. I also now have the system (both sensors and the receiver) able to be turned on/off with a single remote control button press.

I keep one by the front porch gate that also alerts me to nighttime critters that try to come on my porch (live in country). It will keep chiming as long as the critters are near the porch, which I like! I also have a sensor by the back door in the garage since my dogs have access from the front porch thru the garage to the back yard so I can tell when my dogs are coming and going OR if any critters or humans get into my garage. I love the various chimes you can change. I have the reciever plugged into the laundry room & I can hear it all through my house! My sister is sold seeing my work so now she wants some!
