I have a 14 yo chihuahua that is totally blind but still uses her pet door to go outside. She however cannot find her way back in and I needed a alert to let me know when she went out. This item is perfect and even wakes me during the night so that I can go out and get her.

I am happy with the CPVan motion sensor. I use it sitting on a shelf. It detects motion in less than one second and emits a shrill siren sound audible anywhere in the house.
I can arm and disarm it with the remote fob within the house very easily. It does not need line sight contact like a TV remote does. Very handy device for only $58 tax included.

I like everything about it and there is no delay. Just aim it a little ways away from your entrance-way. The remote is not line of sight so you just need to be in the area to push the remote buttons to have them work. The sound is loud and should freak out a quiet sneaky intruder. Hopefully make them run. I used it the first few days on batteries but then switched to it power socket(I removed the batteries when I did that) and I will eventually mount this thing close to the front entrance way and up high on the wall or ceiling and over my entertainment unit where even a tall man can not reach it to try to turn it off.

So far so good. Nothing to dislike. I like the inexpensive battery and easy to install. Remote works great. I put the unit downstairs and have the remote upstairs by our bed next to mr. Colt.

First time this thing went off, I was less than 2 feet from it so following few seconds I was deaf.
9x decibel units cannot hold a candle to this 120 decibel unit. If you want something so loud that it would be easily heard even from 100 feet away, or scare away whoever triggers this, this will do the job.
If you are not sure, do some test runs to figure out where exactly you need to point it for proper motion detection.

I bought this because I’m renting a cargo van to move stuff across the country and will be staying at hotels along the way along with making stops for sight seeing. I was worried about the van getting broken at night so I wanted something that would scare people away, draw peoples attention and that I could hear in the middle of the night if it goes off.
Things I like:
– Its battery operated.
– It has a remote control to turn on and off remotely. (You can also turn it on/off right on the unit).
– Its loud.
– It has 2 modes: Alarm and doorbell (like when someone comes into a store).
– It’s light weight enough that you can put an adhesive magnet on it so you can attach it to metal.
– The infrared sensor doesn’t go through glass so someone walking by the car won’t set it off. (I tested it by putting it in my car, turning it on, walking by as well as walking right up to the glass.)
Someone else posted a video of them installing it their work van and that convinced me to get it. I put ear plugs in and tested the controls to make sure I knew how it works. You could tell it was loud even with the ear plugs. I took one of the ear plugs out to try out the “door bell” mode and even that was loud without the ear plug. So I’m sure the alarm is going to be really strong without ear plugs.
Overall I’m very happy and look forward to using it.

For the price, this unit is great. Issues a piercing alarm and seems sensitive to motion at least 15-20 ft away. Requires no Internet or WiFi, is simple to set up, and may be powered by either 3-AAA batteries or using your own standard 5V mini USB adapter . The supplied remote (with included button battery) is a great convenience since the unit may be mounted in an inaccessible location. Although there is no alarm delay, you can use the remote to arm the unit once you exit the detection range. I found that the alarm stops after 2 mins (unit remains armed). The chime alarm is less loud and just rings a single time – useful if you wanted a warning of intrusion while you were home. I had some initial concerns and found their support (via email) to be prompt and courteous.

I bought this to detect a possible burglar in the living room. I spent a long time trying to figure out where to mount it. The manual says it can sense 110º, from 0 to 8 meters horizontally and from 0 to 2 meters vertically (when mounted at 2 meters high). There are areas that it will not be able to sense (the manual has a nice chart with the full range). For example, if it is mounted at 2 meters high, anything 1 meter away and shorter than 1 meter might not be detected.
The reasons why I gave two stars are:
Cons:
* The range is away shorter than what the manual claims. In my tests, a person beyond 4 meters was hardly detected.
* The sensor was calibrated to detect a person walking normally, but a burglar will move carefully to avoid making noises. I did several tests moving slowly towards and in front of the sensor and it was not able to detect me. It only was able to detect me when I started to walking normally.
Pros:
* Easy to install. You can power it using the provided batteries or you can connect it to an USB power source (which does not come with the unit).
* It has two sound modes, chime or siren (which is pretty loud). The chime is great to test where to mount the unit. The siren is great to scare off intruders.
* It comes with a remote control, which works pretty well. The remote control is already synced with the unit.
* You can also use the buttons on the unit.
* It comes with the two screws and one adhesive. You can decide how to mount it.
* The sensor can detect movement even without light.
Other thoughts:
This might work well for other applications, but not for burglars. I am returning mine.
