    Rob in Renton –

Nice carrier. Plenty of bolts provided. The bolts are actually very long which will accommodate thick bar racks. Time problem is when there are factory racks which are thin (as in my Subaru Outback) and lie close to the roof they are too long. I notified the company and they quickly sent new shorter bolts. Great customer service.

    Seaner –

Came with all the parts needed, took about 30mins to install, mounted securely to my ‘96 LandCruiser stock luggage rack.
Yak is stable at highway speeds, doesn’t wobble like I see the “J” hook ones do.
Might be able to get 2 on there using 2 sets and mounting the boats vertical, but I think I’d move to a Thule/Yakima system for that.
I did mount it “screws up”, as room was limited and that made it 95% easier.
Didn’t need a wrench, the little wheels have enough torque and the plates crush in a bit (gf says I’m a “brute” tho, lol)
You might have a bit of mental gymnastics figuring out where the felt/rubber pads are supposed to go, but you can do it!

    Kathleen Woods-Smith –

This saddle set is touted as compatible with factory racks. I can get it to cinch down, but only if I have the 2.75” long carriage bolts facing up because there is not enough clearance between rack and roof to accommodate that length. Facing the bolts upward creates a new problem, the high probability that the bolt will gouge into my boat. The bolts are irreplaceable in my town – none of the shorter bolts I found fit the knobs from the kit. So frustrating!!! So now these perfectly fine saddles are unusable and I need to find a different transport solution for my 76-pound wherry.

These are beautifully constructed saddle mounts for a kayak or canoe hull down transportation system while it looks like it may also work for a hull up system on some boats too. The saddles are made from heavy duty nylon infused plastic towers with a very secure 4 bolts holding each of the 4 saddle pads in place. This is a great improvement over the 2 bolt patterns I have seen used by many others. These saddles combined with your favorite stinger or matt slide system will provide a great cartop dock for your kayak. I have them mounted on a 2004 Yukon with 22 inch tires so the system is well over 6’6″ high and I don’t have a problem with getting my 16 foot Wilderness Tarpon up there. With J Hooks it was just too much struggle for my 66 year old body to load and secure even though I am 6’5″ tall.
the only problem I had with the setup was that the bolts that were supplied were a little too long. I contacted the seller, COVINA ACCESSORIES, who replied within an hour and gave me directions to invert the bolts but they were sending a set of shorter ones anyway. Unfortunately inverting the bolts didn’t work in my case because they still stuck out too much and scraped the hull of the kayak. But that is ok, they already sent the new bolts. Great products and even better customer service from this company combined with getting my saddles almost a week earlier than the shipping date said!
AA Steel Jetty and Kayak Rack and COVINA ACCESSORIES are great in all aspects of quality, service and sales and I would buy from them again and would recommend this product to anyone who asked!

Order arrived very quickly, and was very easy to put together, EXCEPT that there were only 4 pcs of the longer foam pads (with hole in each end) included. There were plenty of short adhesive backed pads, but this really needs at least 8 of the long foam pads. Therefore, I took away one star from my rating. If the pads are subsequently furnished, I will change my rating to 5 stars! Later note: The company very quickly supplied the additional pads, with an apology for the error! Used the saddles for my kayak for a long round trip and they were great! Very easy to load and unload on a BIG vehicle!

Fits great in my aero bars. I love the way they are adjustable and can accommodate my 10 foot kayak. These also seem more secure than a J style hook (personal opinion) because I can use multiple tie downs to lock it into place. They are easily adjusted and fit my 2019 jeep cherokee cross bars great. I did trim all my bolts down to 2 inches because the stock bolts were close to the roof of my car (took only a few minutes to cut them down). I would recommend them to anyone looking for a way to transport a single kayak.

I was previously using a Yakima Sweetroll, but a low garage door took busted the rear pads (the pricy ones with the rollers). Only needed one pair of cradles, but poor reviews on the Yakima Deck hand sadles (only thing I could find to just get half the set) and price kind of kept me away.

These things are fantastic. I would say every bit as sturdy as the Yakima stuff, and I much prefer the form/function of these. Only the crescent part that holds the pads, and the base that connects to the rack is steel, and it does appear to be steel, not cheap chinesium. The rest is a durable nylon fiber reinforced plastic, very stiff.

As you can see, I don’t have the most traditional setup, but it allows me to clear my spare tire (which doesn’t fit in the spare tire well). I don’t have a pic with the boat up there, because I honestly didn’t plan to do a review. But I have a Stratos 14.5L that I carry both rightside up and upside down in this saddle, and it cradles it just perfectly around the edges. The stratos has a very thin central hull, which deformed when tied down on my previous racks. It requires something that can grip the boat around the edges. This works just perfectly.

    Highly recomended.

BEWARE!!! There is another set that looks VERY similar by ROLA. Avoid this set, it is plagued with reviews of loosening fasteners, and after taking a close look between the two sets, I can tell why. The pins aren’t riveted or use any retaining pin lock washers as far as I can tell.

Works like a champ on my 4Runner. I did have to cut the bolts down a little I could have ran to the hardware store, but a hack saw did the job. I took my Wilderness System Ride 115 on a 30 minute rider at 60-70 mph and it did not move at all. Will be getting a set for my other SUV. Really easy to install and take off.
