8 reviews for CHOETECH Portable Solar Panel, 80W Solar Charger with DC Output for Power Station Generator Camping RV, Monocrystalline Foldable Solar Panel…
I just came off of a week long charter out of Key West to the Dry Tortugas aboard a 44ft catamaran. We had issues with the rental as the generator was not powering up all of the time for some reason. I really only brought along this solar power panel to help charge the phones from time to time. However, we ended up using it almost exclusively throughout the entire day. It was pretty much clutch for all 8 persons onboard to charge not only their phones, but also mobile devices, GoPro’s, laptops, etc. The fact that it has 4output ports was amazing. I’d definitely recommend for boat owners who don’t already have solar panels. Ciao!

I moved from Manhattan to the mountains of North Carolina. In NYC there was virtually no such thing as a power outage; it’s different here!
My requirements were multiple. I wanted to keep a large truck battery fully charged for use with my amateur radio transmitter during power failures. Portability was important as it would travel with us in a limited space camper while at the same time having decent current output. Also important was the ability to charge my Dell laptop computer and cell phones. In short, I wanted high power in a small package that was capable of performing multiple functions.
The CHOETECH Portable Solar Panel Charger, 80W Foldable Solar Panels with 4 Port Outputs did meet all of my requirements.
Output power – I connected the panels to a small 6 amp hour battery used to power a 12V tire inflator for my motorcycle. As the battery was full, I ran the inflator for a few minutes to lower the battery voltage. Then, while the inflator was still running, I connected the panel to the battery; the battery voltage slowly increased; despite the 2-3 amp draw of the inflator. Turning off the inflator a more rapid voltage increase. That convinced me the panels were putting out real amperage!
Note: there are multiple power outputs. The type “C” powers one of my QI chargers, and the 3 amp QC3.0 another. That leave an additional USB for my non cordless devices. Lastly, there is the 12V power out cord that terminates in an Anderson power Pole connector. I did not have one on hand, but the pictured connector slides into that, going to my standard automotive connector. Just be sure to observe polarity keeping the red wire to the plus + terminal of your battery.
To the Sun: Using the four (one for each panel) very handy drop-down stands made facing the sun easy. Of course, you get the most power directly facing the sun, but I found “off a little” was almost as good.
Flexibility – I really appreciated the 10-connector pack, and one was just right for my Dell Laptop. All of the 4 outputs are available at the same time, so I was able to charge multiple devices concurrently – and this 80W panel set has the muscle to do exactly that. When folded the Velcro keeps things nicely together, yet easy to separate. Speaking of separate, don’t attempt to remove the control box (where things plug in) it’s not removeable; but is still easy to access. Probably a good thing if there is a bit of rain to keep the “brains” dry.
Ruggedness – This equipment will stand up to real life use. The top handle is strong and securely mounted. The Velcro, in generous amounts, is very grippy and will keep working. The panels are surrounded by thick material to cushion them from the errant bumps that inevitably occur. The side pocket with the charging controller is generous size to hold supplied accessories and much more. It’s really overbuilt to provide many years of realistic use. It’s very heavy duty, I used the 6 very sturdy grommets (4 corners + 2 at the top and bottom center) to mount panels to my deck railing with tie wraps, went up quick & easy to remove.
Final Thoughts – It’s not the cheapest but exhibits the Choetech quality that I rely on in my other Choetech devices. I’m happy to have a fully charged large truck battery at home to run my ham radio during a power failure. It’s also very nice to be able to pack the compact panels in the camper to keep the cell phones and laptop running when camping.
I’m still amazed that something so compact can be unfolded quickly to recharge the camper battery, my cell phones and laptop. If somebody ever swiped this gem, I would buy another.

It was a little bit heavier than I thought but it actually important to keep it steady under occasional strong winds. It’s about 2weeks after I purchased and working very well. Using this to charge power station and it’ll fill about 150w per day in winter about 4-5hours charging time.

I got this for a home battery backup charger. Recently, we were without power for a few days, and this will be perfect for the next time that happens, either alone or coupled with the large backup battery we’re using. It’s made for exactly that, apparently, and I wasn’t disappointed. Charged my phone as the test with absolutely no problem. I wouldn’t exactly call it “light weight”, but it isn’t heavy by any stretch of the imagination. The carrying handle is wonderful for it and my young son could carry it easily. It expands to quite a large solar array, and the included outputs for power offer a wide range of functionality for such a small package when folded. It’s outstanding! Well worth the money, for sure!

We’ve been camping in national parks often during the pandemic, and I bought this for our camping trip over spring break since the phones and portable battery chargers run out of juice quickly, and we didn’t want to be left looking for an electrical outlet. I was skeptical of this, due to the price and brand being unknown to me, however, after having used it for a week, it worked flawlessly, and had grown on me. The construction is solid and feels well built, it has a heft to it and handled well in rugged environments of Death Valley with dust, sand, and 100 degrees temperature. I haven’t measured the power outputs, but in usage, it charged up my 252.7Wh/70200mAh portable power station from 20% to 100% in 4-5 hours while under full sun. I like the fact that it comes with multiple connectivity options USB A and C as well as round DC tips. It also has a carry pocket to store those cables and tips safely in. There are stands to prop it up against the ground to get full sun exposure, and they hold up well in the desert winds. I can’t speak for longevity, or sustainable power output over the life of the product since I’ve not had it that long, but thus far I’m happy with my purchase. It is a reasonable power to price ratio for a portable solar panel. I’ll update my review should something change.

Kind of heavy. Unfolds very easily. Sturdy Velcro. Plenty of space to press/dry flowers and herbs. When you’re not using it to preserve vegetation, it also generates electricity. Marked down on “warmth” category because sunshine not included.
