I had bought a pair of this same bracket for the same customer 1 year ago, was so happy that the unit fits our solar panel and the 4″ post my customer has, because the unit came with a perfect fit 4″ U-bolt. That was one year ago. Now, this year, our customer decided to add one more for their facility, in fact, this is for a project for a city park here in California. But this time they decided to give me a wrong size U-bolt, a 3″ instead of a 4″ U-bolt! Why? And the bracket hole for the 3″ U-bolt did not fit at all, at first I thought maybe I get lucky that this time the customer has a 3″ post so I tried the U-bolt and the bracket, and it did not fit at all. I have to make the hole wider so I can insert the U-bolt in. The next day we take the solar panel and the bracket to the job site, it turns out it is a 4″ pole that we need to mount this bracket. I went searching for this 4″ U-bolt, spend at least 3 hours, drove 100 + miles, no luck, no one carries a 4″ U-bolt, not Home Depot, Lowes, Ace hardware and neither do one of the major hardware store nearby the job site. In the end, I have to improvise and use two metal band to tie the bracket and hole the solar panel in place. I am very disappointed that they changed the U-bolt size and also it did not even fit the bracket holes. The bracket do fit our solar panel perfectly in place. Conclusion: you never know what you going to get on the U-bolt to hold the bracket, you just need to find out after you receive it.

I used these to mount five solar panels to the roof of our bus conversion. It was a little scary because it will keep the solar panels tilted up somewhat even when I’m driving down the road, but it was necessary because the roof of the bus is curved and I couldn’t get the panels to lay flat. I ended up mounting these with the recommended bolt, but I also used Dynatron 550 seam sealer (from the local auto-parts store) to mount it to the roof. I squeezed some into the drill hole before putting the bolt on, I squeezed some underneath the base of each mount, and I squeezed some all over the top and sides of the mount to keep the bolt from ever shifting. We’ve had it up there now for about half a year, and it is holding very strong. We’ve driven over a thousand miles with it on there, and it’s not moving at all. The mount itself is easy to assemble, and it’s easy to adjust the angle. I’m very happy and highly recommend.
I got this mount as opposed to the other type of tilting mount because I needed to tilt my panels the long way instead of the short way, and the other type of mount is too short. These work great!

As this product is intended for use outdoors, it would have been nice to have corrosion proof A4 Stainless bolts instead of A2 bolts, which start to rust within a few months.

Living amongst a forest of mature oak trees I needed a solution that was moveable. I stacked two 100 watt Renogy panels on an 8 foot 2 1/4″ pipe held in a 5 gallon bucket filled with concrete. I can move it around the property or change the direction to harvest the sunlight most efficiently. I can easily change the angle of the panels as the seasons change.
Why the 4 stars? I had to re-drill the horizontal pieces for 2 3/8 U-bolts as a 4″ pole was difficult to source (and expensive) I have no shading issues with them stacked as they are. Assembly is very easy and high quality stainless steel hardware is included.

Very good well made and holds the panel in position espcaly in high winds

Very high quality BUT
if you are buying the polar mount kit on its own and not part of a deal with an accompanying solar panel make sure to message the seller and specify the size of panel you are intending to mount, as the mounting end clamps come in different sizes depending on solar panel size, ie 35mm for 100w panel, 30mm for 50w panel.
Renogy were good enough to send me the correct end clamps after contacting them. None of this caused me any great loss but if you are in a hurry to set up then messaging the seller with your intentions will save you a lot of delay.
Otherwise, this is the best quality kit I could fine online for pole mounting. Highly recommended.

Purchased two of these for my small solar project. Mounted Renogy 50 watt panels to them. Very well made with excellent hardware. My only gripe would be the 4″ u-bolts included are to fit a 4 inch round pipe or pole. Four inch pipe or pole is hard to source. It is also expensive, and too heavy to have shipped at a reasonable cost. I substituted 12 foot “4×4” posts treated for ground contact and square u-bolts sourced from the nearest, (50 miles away), home improvement store. The posts are in the ground 3 feet and I used quick set post concrete mix in the holes, also sourced from the home improvement store. With the height I have mounted the panels, 7-9 feet, this should work fine.

The problem with this is they don’t tell you the size of the post you will need and if you have a smaller post then there is no adjustment.

I recently made a decision to install a small off grid solar system to supply my basic electrical needs. While I have had years of experience working with electronics. I was a complete novice when it came to generating electricity with solar panels. As such I choose to start my learning process with one 100 watt Renogy monocrystalline solar panel.
Having an iron pipe already in place from an unused satellite dish. The perfect solution for mounting my new solar panel appeared to be by ordering the Renogy pole mount available here on Amazon. The pole mount arrived on time and well packaged in a 32″ x 5″ x 3″ box. The assembly and installation manual was quite detailed including a parts list and drawings. All necessary hardware for assembly and mounting on the pole was included. Please note that you will need a few hand tools to complete the installation which are not supplied. The Renogy pole mount consists of aluminum and stainless steel except for the two 4″ U-Bolts, washers and nuts which attach the mount to the pole. I completed the installation by myself without help. First by attaching the mount to the pole and then mounting the solar panel onto the pole mount using the supplied hardware. The completed installation is quite stable and has already weathered 50+ mph wind gusts.
As an added plus I have found that by turning the solar panel on the pole to face the sun during the day. I can significantly increase the amount of watts generated each day. I am using this 100 watt off grid system to power my Compaq laptop (25-30 watts), a 2014 Vizio 32 inch smart TV with backlight set as low as possible (20 watts) and several very low wattage LED’s (total 11 watts) for lighting. On sunny days I have no shortage of power using either the laptop or TV well into the night. Though I try not to use both at the same time! In the future I hope to replace my laptop with a more efficient HP 14″ Chromebook hopefully allowing for the addition of a SunDanzer DCR50 solar refrigerator.
I am quite happy with the Renogy pole mount and would certainly buy it again!

One gripe and one only.
The angle brackets that take 3 bolts (2 top + 1 Side) are hard to setup as the side bolt is right up against one of he upper bolts.
One suggestion, the angle needed to set for UK latitude to catch the most sun and some sort of throw away tool to help set that up
I also confirm that a 4″ (100mm) diameter pole is needed. Mine came with brackets for my already ordered 100W panel
Took me half hour to assemble
