There were a lot of reviews/questions regarding if this product had a diode to prevent the car battery from draining. I performed an accurate test to verify this.
Using a multimeter set to continuity measure, I tested the solar panel. By connecting the leads via the positive clip, the multimeter would be trying to power the solar panel. There was no continuity! When I connected the leads the other way (positive lead to the negative clip) there was continuity. This means that the solar panel has a diode that blocks in current coming from the positive clip (the same way a car battery would be trying to charge this thing).
Then I moved onto the 12v socket connector. There is an LED and a resistor inside. THIS NEEDS TO BE CUT OUT/REMOVED. If this is left plugged in overnight, the car battery will be drained. With the resistor and LED removed, the 12v socket connector does not consume any electricity. I have yet to test this on a sunny day, so I do not know how much voltage/current it will output.

My measurement of Current from this solar charger through a DC Ammeter multimeter is 0.022 Amps at 18.66 Volts in bright sunshine.
That equals 0.41 Watts.
Nowhere near to the 10 Watts your company claimed.
These solar chargers are Frauds.
Anyone buying one of these solar chargers needs a DC Ammeter, or
a multimeter which advertises a DC Current capability.

Disappointed, sent the 1st one back because the Cig. Lighter has a power on Red led,and it didn’t work, ordered a 2nd one, it shows up missing the led on the plug,just an empty hole, sent 4 messages to them, they replied with supposed to work and they would get back to me after there week off…I sent my last message and they responded with they need a picture to see what’s wrong with it….I’m sending this one back,with a picture, I’ll find another one, that works and has a working power on light, without the led light, u don’t know if it’s working or not
The customer shouldn’t have to buy a Multi-meter, to see if it works….

Bought this for my camper van as I just destroyed a battery with it going flat due to lack of use. Hooked it up a week ago but just looked into it to see if it was actually doing anything. Measured the battery voltage and its at 13.2 volts on a bright but overcast day so it is clearly doing its job. Time will tell in the dull and short winter days but I am more than happy with it right now. I have it mounted on the inside of the windscreen via the suckers.

Really happy with this purchase. I have another more expensive solar charger (a hard panel) and I like this one a lot more. The people that left 1 star reviews for this do not understand the purpose of a solar charger, it is not meant to recharge your battery it’s meant to maintain the charge it has. If you put a dead battery on the solar charger it will remain dead but will not lose any more power then it has already. Batteries will often die within a week or two if you are not driving your vehicle, this prevents that from happening.

This works great for trickle charging my truck battery, but I’ve just learned how to use it as a USB solar charger.
.If you buy a 12v power (cigarette lighter) extension with two or three outputs, you can plug the solar charger into one socket, and a car USB adapter into the other(s). You don’t have to plug anything into the cigarette lighter
Power will flow from solar panel into one socket providing power to USB adapter in other socket.

I have purchased different kinds of solar chargers from other makers (not this Eco-worthy model, so far) that actually WARPED from being on the car dashboard in the sun! But as for this charger, so far so good. It does put out power, whether it’ll be enough to prevent the battery from running down remains to be seen. I wanted to know if it was working, so the first thing I did when I got it was to measure the power coming from the charger with a VOM meter (I had to do this because I have gotten other chargers that are DOA out of the package). I found that it does make power. Of course it makes more power in bright sunlight, (about 30% more) and it also makes power even in overcast weather.
A fair question might be why would anybody need this at all? The answer is modern cars use battery power even when they are just sitting. This power is used to keep alive the memory in the radio and the car’s computer. Even though the power used for keep-alive is very low – in the milliamps – this power can be enough to run down your battery if the car sits idle for a week or longer. Some people even disconnect the battery of a car that sits a long time, which does work to keep the battery from running down. However the computer memory is gone, so if you disconnect the battery, the car would need to be driven quite a while for the computer to reset for the “smog test memory” (the best description i have, for certain functions the computer stores, and that are the first thing they look at during a smog check), Long story short, if you have a state smog check coming up soon – the LAST thing you want to do is disconnect the battery! Since it won’t pass smog until those functions reset.
Anyway I measured the voltage on the cigarrette lighter socket and got nothing. I put the VOM on all the fuses with the dial set to check continuity and they were all good. Rather then open that can of worms trying to fix it I just used the supplied clips to put on the battery. Then ran the power cord out of the engine compartment and through the door frame of the passenger side, and closed the door on it. And set the charger on the dash, where it gave me a reading from the alligator clips as shown in the image.
By the way, the panels are covered by plastic when you get them and just remove the plastic for it to work optimally, if you use a sharp object use care not to cut the panels.
Update 9/21/2017 I have been using this solar panel for several months now, haven’t had the battery run dead yet so it’s still working. I bought a second unit and installed it the same way – just routed the cable out the engine compartment and into the cabin and close the door on it. The alternative is chopping a hole in the firewall to fit the cable through and I don’t want to do that, I’d rather have to change the cable once in a while if I have to. I guess the only way I’d find out if the cable is too worn is to measure the voltage at the clamps from time to time other wise it might stop charging and I wouldn’t even know it.

We bought this to ECO-WORTHY 10w solar panel to recharge our little teardrop trailer’s on-board car battery during a camping trip this month, and we were very pleased with it’s performance. It’s not big enough to fully charge a battery, but it is more than sufficient to provide a trickle charge to maintain battery power. Using it daily, it provided an adequate charge on the battery to power our interior lights for the full two-week trip. Normally, they last for only 3-4 days. I’d call that a win.
This panel is well designed and made, and it comes with adapters to both charge the battery through direct post clips or a power plug outlet. The one improvement it could have is a USB adapter, so one could also use it to charge a phone or other device.
