Just moved to an old farm, situated at the end of a long track and needed something to alert me if anyone is heading up. This does the job very well! Took a few tests (my children riding their bikes up and down) to get it in the right position but it’s made me feel more in control, rather than having someone just appear at my side door!

I’ve been using a $15 Harbor Freight driveway sensor for years… gone through 2 of them. I thought missed detections and false alarms was just to be expected. But this spring when I was getting false alarms several times a day, I got mad and looked to find a better unit. After some study, I selected this Guardline alarm and I’m very glad I did.

It was much more expensive that what I had been using, but if it really worked well the additional cost would be worth it to me. I ordered it through Amazon. It arrived just a few days later. There were two boxes inside- one for the alarm portion that goes into the house, the other the sensor that gets mounted outside so it has a view of the driveway. The setup instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The sensor was easy to assemble and insert the AAA batteries needed. Pairing with the receiver went smoothly. In my use, the receiver is inside of a steel sided house and the sensor is about 150 feet away. The sensor is mounted about 4′ high, is attached to a pine board which is, in turn, attached to a tree. It is possible to point the sensor in various directions, enable a slow speed detection, alter maximum detection range, change re-detection time, and adjust sensitivity. In fact, I was surprised at how custom this alarm can be. Every thing went real smoothly ….. except I was getting too many false alarms and a few missed detections. I went back to the sensor and tried to readjust where it pointed. That made a tremendous difference in performance. After using it for well over a week, I am delighted with its sensitivity. I get very few false alarms (deer walking past the sensor, a huge crow walking on the driveway, and a few alarms with unknown causes) but every true situation (car in driveway, person walking in driveway) has been picked up. Perhaps the most difficult part of the system configuration is deciding which of the 32 alarm sounds you want to hear…. I chose a “car horn” and that has been working well. I have also been contacted by the company, twice, asking if the setup was going ok or if I could use any help (I never needed their help).

Bottom line: high quality product, rapid delivery, good instructions to setup, ample offers of assistance if needed, and excellent performance. That was actually more than I was expecting from this driveway alert product. Was it worth a more premium price? Absolutely yes. I have no regrets at all about this purchase.

These guys do a great product. They say on their website that they care and research every product. I could not believe who well packed it was, there were raw plugs screws and a screw driver. it took me less then five minutes to read and set up. Remember to buy 4 x aa and 4 x aaa batteries and you are good to go.

Our driveway is 300 feet long and the only way onto our property. I have a large workshop at the end of the driveway and separate from the house. I wanted several things. I wanted a visual way to warn “visitors” that they had been detected entering my property, and I wanted an audible alert to warn us that someone had entered the property. For that to happen, I needed a battery powered sensor that could easily transmit a signal 300 feet from the entrance to our driveway through a wall to a receiver in my workshop/house. Because I only wanted this to happen after dark, I needed a sensor that would only detect motion between sunset and sunrise. Furthermore, because my workshop is small compared to my house, I wanted to be able to turn the alert volume down to minimum in the workshop, yet maximum volume in the house to wake us in the middle of the night. I attached a 12 volt SECO-LARM SL-126Q/B Blue Security Strobe Light to the receiver in the workshop. The Guardline receiver allows me the option of powering the strobe light for up to 60 seconds! Imagine an intruder walking or driving into our driveway at night only to be greeted by a blue flashing light at the end of a dark driveway! Of course, I also wanted a battery back-up. There would be no alerts in the event of a power failure. With one Guardline wireless sensor, two Guardline receivers (with battery back-up), and one 12 volt SECO-LARM SL-126Q/B Blue Security Strobe Light, I was able to make all of this happen. I applied a generous coating of Magic Lube silicone grease to the seams of the sensor and strobe light to prevent water damage. It works every time and we’ve never had a false alarm.
