This set is made from a hoard of Roman iron nails discovered in 1960 and auctioned to the public. Nails of this type would have been used to crucify criminals and insurgents during Christ’s life and would ultimately be used in his death.

I purchased this for my adult daughter and grandkids. The coin is much smaller than you might expect yet in exceptional condition and is encased in a holder of it’s own, and the nail is in very good shape considering it’s age. I only wish the packaging and framing of the items were more sealed. It closes with a magnet connection which, when opened, allows the items to be taken out, yet also allows for the possibility for the coin to be lost. But overall I would recommend this item.

To answer earlier complaints, the nail and mite come prepackaged in a floating frame design with the mite and nail already in the frame. THEY WILL ONLY FALL OUT IF YOU OPEN THE FRAME. you may ask yourself, “how can I keep this from falling out?” simple, DON’T OPEN THE FRAME.
That being said I love this piece and got a whole bunch as gifts, may even reorder. Such a unique piece of history and a spectacular desk ornament. Goes great with any old roman era coins you may have as well.
