After reading an article about installing a solar panel at https://handybobsolar.wordpress.com/the-rv-battery-charging-puzzle-2/ the controler that came with the Windy Nation 100 watt solar panel was spot on. It has all the adjustable setting need to get the most power out of your battery system. Take the time to read the article above and you can not go wrong.

The product itself works great and has done exactly what I wanted it to do with keeping a great charge on my RV. Negative thing about this product is the poor wording they use when saying complete kit – Product was drop shipped to my house and I left that night for a 2 week elk hunt, during hunt had a few hours to kill and went to install this kit to only find out that it is not complete – Did not include the in line fuse that they recommend when hooking to batteries, did not include lugs to connect wire to batteries and did not include additional wire to use for monitoring panel to batteries. So, this is not a complete kit that is ready to install and will require a trip to the hardware store.

I am giving the WindyNation 100 Watt Solar Panel Off-Grid Kit 4 out of 5 stars (I like it).
I bought the kit about a month ago and received it promptly after ordering, about 3 days later. The packaging it came in seemed fairly robust, and there was no damage to the panel from shipping. The kit comes with everything shown in the picture, nothing more. The P30L charge controller came with an instruction booklet that basically explained its features and installation. The Solar Panel came with a page that instructs the user to download the PDF instructions from the WindyNation website. Both sets of instructions are fairly comprehensive in my opinion.
Most notably about this kit: You will need to purchase at least two fuse holders and fuses (i used automotive ATC-type fuse holders), and the appropriate gauge wire to connect the P30L to your battery bank (unless the wire provided in the kit is sufficient). The table in section 4.7 of the Complete Solar Kit Manual (downloaded from WindyNation’s website) and pg 14 of the P30L manual (included in box) describe fuse size and wire gauge based on the capacity of your solar kit. For my 100W kit i chose 10 AMP fuses and 8 ga wire.
After setting up my system and triple-checking wiring, my P30L was not indicating that it was charging my batteries and there was not any voltage coming out of the charge controller, despite a steady 12.4 volts coming from the panel itself. Long story short, after a couple phone calls to WindyNation customer service, who were very polite and inclined to help their customer troubleshoot their system, the problem was resolved and my off-grid camper was up and running! Here is the breakdown of the problem that I ran into: I am not an electrical expert, so i only vaguely understand how a solar panel works, so bear with me please. Since i was only reading 12.4V DC from my panel, the WindyNation tech told me i should read around 20V from the solar panel in direct sunlight and thought that one of the diodes in the box on the back of the panel was bad, and promptly shipped two replacement diodes to me, which arrived two days later. When i opened the box on the rear of the panel, i used a multimeter to check the diodes. Both diodes tested good. It was at that time i noticed that one of the three leads coming from the solar cells had come loose from its soldered connection. I simply re-soldered that connection, buttoned everything up and re-checked the output; 20.4V DC.
Everything has worked as advertised ever since. The P30L seems to monitor the battery status well, restricting current when the batteries are full and sending up to 5 Amps when the batteries need to be charged. It also lets you know when you put too much load on the batteries. I bought a 350W space heater to run off my 1000W inverter, which quickly drains my two 65Ah batteries enough for the P30L to display the “unhappy battery” icon. Despite that, my system has been more than enough to power the interior lights in my trailer, FanTastic ventilation fan, and all my chargers for phones, cameras, laptops, etc.
After reading all of the reviews of this product, it seems that I am the only one affected by the solder defect that i found. Due to this fact and the very helpful customer support staff at WindyNation, not to mention my love for tinkering with and fixing things, i give this product 4 out of 5 stars. It would have earned a 5 out of 5 if it came with the fuse holders, fuses, and not having to troubleshoot the faulty connection in the solar panel.

I originally purchased a 100 Watt system for my RV from Amazon. Since Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico, I purchased a total of 32 more panels and assorted pieces directly from Windy Nation.
Pros: all items worked properly right out of the box. My RV batteries are maintained at a steady 12.9 volt. After Maria, I built two 1.6Kw systems in PR that provide enough electricity to run two full-sized refrigerators 24/7 even on 50% cloudy days. Easy installation with the Z brackets and Y connectors. Solar panels built in Indonesia show good quality. Recommend purchasing the adjustable, aluminum mounting racks (@ extra cost).
Cons: no fuses come with the kits. You must purchase separately to install at the positive cables of the charge controller, both incoming from the solar panels and outgoing to the batteries. Even with 10 AWG cables, you will see a small voltage drop if running cables longer than 20 feet (recommend going with 8 AWG which is the max diameter the charge controllers can handle). Instructions must be downloaded from WindyNation.
Overall impression: these are great off-grid systems to use with your RV, cabin, or home. With proper planning, you can be nearly independent from your local utility (check your local laws), or the incompetent and bankrupt Puerto Rican utility company.
[updated 20 December 2018] Since building my systems 1 year ago, I had to make significant changes to the systems and built a total of 5 systems using WN panels & controllers. First I uninstalled 8 panels, since the systems were generating TOO MUCH electricity. Second, In some systems I changed out the controllers to Midnite Solar(s) or Outback controller(s). Third, I’ve had to rearrange my PV arrays from 4 to 3 panels for the remaining systems since each panel generates MORE power than what the standard test suggests. On a daily basis, my panels perform like they are rated at 106 Watts to 116 Watts per panel. Each panel generates an average of 300 to 400 watts per day and as much as 575 watts per day on the sunniest of days. This means the WN P30L controllers were going over the 400 Watts max they are rated for when paired with a total of 4 panels. Keep in mind this info for is for their location in Puerto Rico, your rated Wattage WILL vary based on your location. Strongly recommend buyers stick with no more than 3 panels for each P30L controller. Overall, I’m very happy with the performance of WN panels.

I had to update my review to five stars. Windy Nation was kind enough to provide additional information on their system and I made changes accordingly. Originally I had one 100w solar panel with two 650CCA car batteries. I was not getting enough charge to keep my guard lights on through the night. Thanks to their information provided I proceeded to purchase an additional panel and two additional batteries. Now my system is lasting through the night and is a lot more stable. I really appreciate the excellent customer service.
