This product is not ready to go out of the box. The bottom pole mount holes are not aligned properly, so the mount will not fit flush with the back plate which rests against the pole. I didn’t have a tool that is able to grind out a wider hole in the back plate or the mount arm (fortunately a friend was able to help me out). The instructions and pictures are way too small to be readable, very few actual words, it is impossible to decipher the parts in the diagrams, and there is absolutely no indication where the few locking washers should go (because their aren’t enough for every bolt connection, neither are there enough washers). The metal support arms are sharp on some edges, which is not good for the cables. Overall I consider this a mediocre product, given the price I expected better. It does ‘work’, but the hassle factor with (what should be) a simplistic product is excessive. Feel free to buy it, but I suspect you will be annoyed and disappointed. My overall rating is a very generous 3-star. IF they fix the issues, it would be worth the cost… but as it stands, way over-priced for what is provided.

I bought the solar panel and the mounting bracket at the same time. They highly compatible. Assembly was fairly easy. It took me a couple of minutes to understand how they would best fit together but once it did it was a snap and it works fantastic. The instructions regarding the distribution panel were not needed, but I had to lpp close to see the light blinks telling me how it was working the instructions for that could have been better. It is a definite 5 level.

I am a mechanical engineer and a tool and die maker and this product is well-engineered and the production tolerances are excellent unfortunately I can’t give it five stars because the burrs on the straight cuts are bad enough that they could cut a person! Be careful when you install this product the burrs are so bad they can cause serious injury! They have too much clearance between the shear blades

Installed on a post on dock to be able to recharge battery. Seems to be well made and should do whats it is designed for using with a 50 watt panel. I used as shown in pictures(

Renogy 50 Watt 12 Volt Monocrystalline Solar Starter Kit

) instructions were scant for pole mount kit and need improvement but enough to get the job done. Some drilling on the back mounting plate was required since the holes did not quite match up.

The product is good quality. We spent some minutes trying to figure out what the 2 little rectangular pieces of metal were for. I really scrutinized the picture on the “directions” and saw them pictured very faintly. It is easy to miss those faint little marks on the drawing. Once we knew where those pieces went, it was pretty easy to install the solar panel onto the arm. It also would help if the “directions” showed which way those 2 little rectangular pieces of metal should face in order to secure the panel onto the arm. The blue protective plastic sheathing is removed before installation.

Got all the out to our very remote, rustic cabin only to find I can’t install my solar panel because the product details are wrong. It says both on the product page & included paperwork “…for pipes up to 4 inches DIAMETER” but the included pipe clamps are way too small for that! Did you mean circumference? What a pain. Please fix your listing.

While the claim on the website is “Can be adapted to suit an inside extrusion dimension of between 172mm to 540mm (6.77″~21.26″), Pole dia. from 2.0-inch to 4.5-inch”, what they are forgetting to say is that you will have to purchase your own large pipe clamps or u-bolts to do this as the two enclosed pipe clamps are way to small, even for a 2″ dia. pole. And it is almost guaranteed you will need to drill holes into your solar panel to attach the panel to the holder. Neither of these are big deals, other than little pains you should be aware of. Overall, the holder is well designed and I think it will be strong enough to support the panel over time. If not, I will update the review later.

Update: The seller has raised the price on this unit by nearly $10 dollars, which greatly reduces its overall value. The quality is still high, as far as I know. But at the new price point, there’s plenty of competition out there, and some less expensive units may be more attractive now.

    Original review:
Very impressed. A good value, simple sturdy design, high quality materials and workmanship. This mount for small-ish panels is much, much stronger and more robust than I expected. Very easy to assemble and install. Mine is currently supporting a 25W mono-crystalline panel, and doing a great job of it. I also checked a 20W mono panel, and that popped right on just as easily. I think if you go much bigger the panel may end up oriented horizontally so the narrower orientation of the panel will still be spanned by the main arm of this mount – but there’s nothing wrong with that.

If I have one complaint, it’s that the pipe clamps, while of high-quality, stainless steel – are sized for a metric driver or flat screw driver. That’s a pretty nit-picky complaint – metric hex drivers are just not a part of my regular tool kit, and cinching a pipe-clamp with a screwdriver is a frustrating experience. Anyway you can use any hose/pipe clamps you want, though stainless would certainly be smart.
