I thought this kit worked great. Like others have said, it doesn’t seem sturdy until everything is all setup and it’s bolted on the roof and the panels are on there.
I put my solar panel rack on my shed roof. I live in Idaho, so I think the panel angle options are fine. Do some research on the optimal angle for your solar setup.
I’m not an expert, but for me, this kit helped save me from going to Home Depot a million times for that one part I forgot to buy or having to make metal cuts and all that jazz.
If you are an expert, you won’t be impressed with buying most junk on Amazon and if you buy on Amazon, I’m sure you will complain about the “quality”. Worked just fine for me.
The only stuff I had to buy were:
– aluminum sheets
– tube of roof sealer caulking stuff
– lag bolts to ratchet in the feet to the roof studs.
I already had the drill bits ratchet set and caulking gun. It helped to have one of those chalk line tools to mark where the studs are.
Pretty simple. I followed the directions on the Amazon listing and zoomed into the pictures. I didn’t bother looking at the instructions they sent on a low quality black and white paper.
Also, pics others have posted helped too. Not sure if my pics help since I finished setting it up at night.

The rack kit came with some missing parts. The gauge of the actual metal struts were very thin, they bend very easily. For safety reasons, I replaced some major parts with super struts from home depot. I was going to return the kit but one thing I did like about the kit was the base stands, they were sturdy. Overall I ended up using 1/2 of the parts in the kit bc the metal was too thin.

We bought 2 kits. Installed the frames on 4 x 4 posts. Then attached 4 200 watt panels to each frame. The frames are adjustable and come with the hardware to attach the panels. They are sturdy and have held up in the recent high winds in our area. Very happy with them. Next year plan to add more panels and will definitely get more of these frame kits.

I needed to put up four 200W PV panels in a big hurry. This kit saved me sourcing all of the parts separately myself. I think it was intended for a certain roof pitch, because the angle is not very adjustable. If you put it on a flat roof, platform, or slab on grade, the angle is way too low for the central USA latitudes. If you live near the equator, then it is probably perfect. What it needs is longer back legs, that cut to length. Most of the parts are the Asian version, of what the trade calls, “Uni-strut”. I believe Uni-strut is a trademark. The kit has a bunch of “Strut Nuts” that slide into the channels. These nuts have plastic spacers, instead of the usual steel spring, to hold them in place. Kind of irritating, but functional. All hardware is metric. The material is galvanized to prevent rust, and made of heavy enough gauge metal to do the job. The directions leave something to be desired, but the fasteners are all bagged in separate kits for each step, so it works OK. The panels mount with extruded aluminum friction clamps, not fasteners, but that also seems to work. Everything is shaky and loose until you finish the installation. There are no wire-ways to organize cables, so you either must run conduit, or wire-tye the cables in place. If you have time to make your own parts, then I would suggest that is probably a better option.
Addendum: The kit survived a Colorado Winter at 8500 feet elevation. Fully exposed on three sides, North side is protected by a building. Usual strong wind, but less than the usual 4 feet of snow accumulation.

I was very disappointed in the design of this mount. There were no instructions included. I did not realize that they were on the amazon product site until after I replaced the mount with something else. For the money, I would build my own out of the same unistrut material this is made from and you would have a better, more sturdy product.

I went ahead with my installation of this kit, but had to modify many things. The reason why I spent the extra money for this kit rather than doing it myself was to save time, but you get what you pay for. I had multiple issues with this product:
-While some of this kit is heavy duty, some if it is fairly thin material. Tolerances are really poor so even when assembled the upright legs will rattle around in the feet and angled brackets. I tried tightening thick wall vs thin wall struts together to reduce some of this slop, but the thinner pieces just bend and the whole structure never really tightens up like I would expect a thought-out kit to do. Time will tell if the winds rattle this assembly around audibly where this is unacceptable.
-I have standard HQST 100W panels, but the mounting brackets with this kit are not designed for my 1.4″ thick panels. The brackets on the ends of channels (for only mounting 1 panel edge) look like they are more appropriate for 1.75+ thick panels. I had to cut off parts of these brackets so that when tightened they would not stab into the delicate poly portion of the panel, rather than lock down the edge frame of the panel as they are designed. -3 out of the 4 mounting feet were fine, 1 was welded together upside down. This caused the holes in the upright channel leg to not line up. I was forced to redrill holes on the upright in order for this incorrectly welded foot to work.
-while 4 panels do fit on this kit, they cannot be mounted symmetrically on the rails with the included hardware unless your panels are around 2 inches thick at the frame. I was forced to cut off 2 of the bolts since my panels were only1.4″ thick. I could have mounted them off-center by about 6 inches, but I wanted my panels to be centered in the tracks (call me crazy). see pics
All in all, I got the kit to work, but it took an additional few hours to MAKE it work, when I really just wanted something bolt together. Poor craftmanship, I would just piece together my own kit from Home Depot parts if I did it again.
