As others have posted, the wire used in this set of cables appears to be smaller than the advertised 14 gauge. It could be a metric size. It is stranded and the copper conductor measures 0.085 inches in diameter, which in American AWG wire standard sizes equates to something between 14 gauge and 16 gauge (a little thinner than 14 gauge). Also, as others have posted, the insulation is relatively thick and inflexible. Due to the smaller than advertised wire size, these cables will have more loss than true 14-gauge cables. The MC4 connectors at the ends fit together okay, the ones I received did have o-rings, however they are made of brittle plastic and break easily.

Maybe thinner than I expected the 10Guage to be. I thought I wanted these. In the end I know I wanted a way to quick disconnect everything the panels and the battery. My panels have MC4 plugs. So my husband was kind enough to make a Y conversion for the two 50 watt solar panels I have together to an Anderson. So now I just need to disconnect the Andersons on both ends and pretty much close the home made pack cloth book case style flexible solar panels up and roll the battery out of bad weather etc. No longer stuck trying to use special tools to unlock the MC4’s. SO with having said that…buy buy brand new Windy Nation 30 foot pair. I guess I’ll attempt to sell on Amazon. We checked out the single cable with the double wires inside and conversions with both panels and it’s all good to go. Since I camp solo a lot without my husband and rare occasional girl friend or guests …. I have to act fast if the weather changes or just easier to deal with a quick system over the MC4’s. Of course the MC4’s are popular for good reason in the home residence use but on the road is where I was having issues. I do wish someone sold a commercial well made version of what my husband just made me. It took him a good day to build and even then he realized he switched a plug around. We Know it’s positive but someone messing with it for some reason and not us…yeah..I will label it with some red electricians tape to help with that.

I needed a 30 foot of #10 wire to extend a ground mounted solar panel for my RV on days that I’m parked in the shade. I noticed other reviewers mentioning the wire seemed thin, and I agree. However the wire is marked as 10 AWG and sunlight resistant (see picture). I placed the wire in between other 10 AWG wire for comparison, this wire is in the center of the picture. I also have a picture of 25 feet other another brand solar #10 AWG for comparison with this 30 footer. Of course the other roll of wire has both red and black together. I feel that the difference in thickness is due to the insulation, but I have not cut the wire to confirm. I do like the way this wire rolls up, making it easier to store on an RV, but time will tell if the insulation holds up while being dragged on the ground. I tried the connectors on various other brands of MC4 plugs and it worked fine in most cases. On one other brand it was stubborn, but it still came off ok. So time will tell if this wire holds up to my usage. But so far I’m happy.

PS: I changed my original review as I did a better test of the cable and found it ok but it has caused a current and voltage drop in the connections. See in the picture as it is way smaller than the original 10AWG wire. I have tried to use Amazon email to reach the customer service but never heard from them 🤔… That’s okay as I’m returning it.

Wire is very stiff, not much flexibility, wants to recoil on itself. Could use a more flexible wire like used in an extension cord. Otherwise seems like a solid product.

The build quality seems good, but on the pair I ordered and received the black cable, and only that one, had male connectors on both ends, which makes it hilariously useless and I have to return it. I have no idea how that made it through quality control.

I ordered these for my self built portable solar power station. They reach 30 ft allowing me to place my station in the shade, and get the panels out in to the full sun. I connected four 170W panels in series with max of 110V hitting the solar charge controller. The cables do no get hot, and my station is getting all the power it needs.
These are great cables providing solid connection for moving high DC voltage to my solar controller. The red/black is perfect for quick and easy identification and safe correct connecting. They are great quality cables for a good value. I give them 5 stars.

I have a solar generator in my RV and can put the panels out in the sun while keeping the expensive battery pack inside the RV. Definitely worth the cost for the convenience and prolonging the life of the batteries. That night I can simply unplug the solar panels and take them inside so they’re safe and leave the extension cable for tomorrow morning.

Very poor quality crimps and connectors which were not centered and not properly installed. Barely mates with better quality MC4 connectors. WindyNation seller replies with automated email system that is broken.
