This is designed for outside use, but instructions say don’t expose detector to rain or Sun! Duh. Range of detector only about 10 ft. Too short for serious driveway or home security use. “During heavy storms or snowfall, it is recommended that the unit should be moved indoors”. I live in Michigan. I needed a knife to pry open the cover of the detector to insert the batteries, I couldn’t get it open otherwise. Disappointing design and build quality. Not recommended.

3.5 stars. I’m using it indoors, and it always correctly detects real motion. Unfortunately, it’s also occasionally triggered by a SHADOW from the curtain, including when the light is turned on. The shadow falls on the FLOOR, not on the sensor itself.

Therefore, it’s not 100% reliable, and you may be alarmed for no reason. The tunes are plentiful and you’ll definitely find something you like. It can also play from “quiet” to “VERY LOUD”.

I can’t speak to it’s weather proofing since I use them indoors but I’ve bout 3 of these now. One was busted and I had to return it but had no issues and the replacement worked fine.

One unit has been installed in a thrift store where we keep it positioned above the front door with one chime about 30 feet away and the other about a half block away separated by four walls. In both cases the chimes have been working well and the triple a batteries in the sensor seem to last for several months without change. I think it was almost a year before I had to do that.

The second unit was placed in a church building, which was much smaller. Aside from getting a bum unit that had to be returned the replacement has been working without issue since for several months.

I’m considering getting one for my house now, just as a cheap way to have a security system. False alerts have been very minimal and I attribute them to things like leaves and swinging signs that may have tripped the laser.

What use is a driveway alarm that can’t get wet? I ordered this because the listing didn’t say anything about needing to be sheltered. When it got here, the instructions said to keep it out of rain, snow, and sun. Completely useless. Sent it back.

I’m using this in my business as a door chime. Very easy to install, I get a clear chime with about 30’ between switch and chime. I also put one in my back room which has a door between them and there’s about 50 feet away. I don’t get a chime on that one every time, but a very large percentage of them. Good product for the price

We used this for when my mom’s dog was here. She will NOT tell you she has to go potty, but will walk over to the door. If you miss her “que” you get presents on the floor without warning. She’s almost 4 and potty training an older temporary house guest was not likely to happen. So, I found this.
It is very sensitive. It will continue to sound off as long as the person or animal is there. There are many annoying options to choose to have notify you. MANY! We selected the Bing bong…Hello in the man’s voice. It was the least annoying of them all and worked well.
The range is wide. I ended up putting tape over the sides so it only detected straight out. That fixed many of the false alarms.
Unplugged it at night. The cat loved setting it off! Only annoying part of that was resetting the notification selection every day. Pressing through them all until you find “The One” was a pain, but worth not cleaning up presents off my carpet every day!

Best upgrade we ever made to the front door at the office . . . Now we can hear when folks come in.

These receivers are LOUD, even on their lowest volume setting. We could have gotten by with a single receiver unit mounted in the middle of the office, but with this unit I was able to mount receivers at both ends of he office for a more even sound

For the price, this is a great driveway alarm. Nice to have more than one receiver. The variety of chimes it offers are totally annoying–everything from Jingle Bells to Happy Birthday is a little ridiculous. We stuck with the first option, which is just a generic ding dong kind of sound. Would have liked more short and sweet chimes to choose from; some of them go on and on… Otherwise, great product!
